Belmont Humanities Symposium Journal
Editor’s Note
The second volume of the Belmont Humanities Symposium Journal offers critical and personal discussion of a wide variety of topics related to the 2011 Symposium’s theme of “Liberating Voices.” We hope that these contributions will be of wide interest to readers across the Belmont community, and that they will contribute to enriching the dialogue among us.
I would like to express my gratitude to the BHSJ Executive Board, to the Editorial Advisory Board and to the jury readers, whose careful consideration and expeditious reading of submissions are greatly appreciated. Words of thanks go as well to President Fisher and the Belmont administration, whose support was vital in bringing Dr. Maya Angelou and her message of inspiration and hope to our campus and to our students. A very special word of gratitude goes out to Caresse John and Amy Hodges-Hamilton, who served as Co-Chairs for this Symposium with extraordinary persistence, dedication, and # air.
