Belmont Humanities Symposium Journal
Abstract
Welcome to this year’s 10th Annual Humanities Symposium. We are gathering today and this week to celebrate the humanities and more specifically to explore this year’s theme of “liberating voices.” When I think of voices that liberate, Martin Luther King, Jr. comes to mind, and Abraham Lincoln, and Sojourner Truth—people who wrote and spoke eloquently for a cause, for a group of people who needed to be lifted up and called to action in a time of crisis.
