Belmont Humanities Symposium Journal
Abstract
Harris-Hillman is a public school for severely disabled and medically fragile children in Nashville, Tennessee. Robbie Hampton is the school’s principal; Jennifer May is the school’s Consultant Teacher; Beth Patterson was the 2011 Teacher of the Year. As part of the 2011 Belmont University Humanities Symposium, these three distinguished members of the Harris-Hillman faculty were invited to take part in a panel discussion titled, “Liberating Voices at Harris-Hillman”. After summarizing some of what they said about the Harris-Hillman School, I’ll reflect both personally and philosophically on their work.
