Abstract

What qualities set moral exemplars apart, turn role aspirants into role models, and transform role models into effective leaders? Drawing on character education (Arthur, 2024; Lamb and Brooks, 2026), motivational theory of role modeling (Peters et al., 2015), and biblical studies (Park, 2019, 2026), this paper contends that two ingredients are instrumental to the efficacy of role models—a performative commitment to vocation and physical embodiment of virtue.
