Belmont Formation Scholars Cohort for Character Research and Writing

Group photo of the inaugural Formation Scholars Cohort from 2026

The Belmont Formation Scholars Cohort is an encouraging community of faculty and staff scholars across disciplines and professions who conduct a range of research and writing projects on whole-person formation and character virtue development aimed toward individual and collective flourishing.

The summer 2026 inaugural cohort engaged common readings for shared language and understanding to support meaningful conversation and peer review feedback to learn from and support particular members in pursuit of distinct projects. Cohort members produced a poster and paper ultimately aimed toward conferences and publications.

With gratitude to The Kern Family Foundation, Belmont Formation Scholars were supported with funding for scholarly resources and conference dissemination.
