Abstract

This study aims to develop and validate a new scale of attachment style, as well as, explores the relationship between attachment styles and preferred love languages, aiming to uncover potential links between how individuals express affection and their attachment security in relationships. To investigate the reliability of this scale, we employed methods such as internal consistency, split-half reliability, inter-item correlations, and item-total correlations. Additionally, we assessed the scale’s convergent validity by examining its association with established attachment measures, including the Adult Attachment Questionnaire (AAQ) and the Experiences in Close Relationships Questionnaire – Revised (ECR-R). Participants, aged 18 and older, were asked to identify their primary love language and complete a survey designed to measure security and insecurities within romantic contexts. Although results and detailed analyses are pending, this study could have significant implications for understanding the interplay between attachment and relationship satisfaction. If certain love languages are found to correlate strongly with specific attachment styles, this could offer valuable insights into improving adult relationship dynamics and fostering secure attachments.
