Summary
This project aims to analyze how The RealReal supports circular fashion by extending the life cycle of luxury garments through resale and authentication. Using this platform as inspiration, this project will demonstrate a new rental fashion concept that also reduces textile waste and promotes circular fashion goals. We propose the development of an online clothing rental platform that allows users to pay per item with no subscription fee, removing common barriers to entry and increasing accessibility for a wider range of users. Additionally, customers will be able to choose clothing ranging from casual to formal attire ensuring the platform supports both everyday use and event based needs. This website encourages sustainable fashion use by achieving more wear out of the clothing, and will provide points per rental that can be exchanged for rewards, to encourage continued engagement and long-term behavioral change toward more circular consumption habits.
