Description
I find that I tend to gravitate to food items as a reaffirmation of my cultural identity. As a first generation Mexican-American it is difficult for me to know where I stand culturally. I'm not really Mexican but I don't feel American. Within each of these communities, I feel like an outsider.
The works here feature items that have a shared appreciation throughout the Chicanx* community and serve as cultural tokens that aren't simply Mexican or American but are intrinsically both.
*(in North America) a person of Mexican origin or descent
