Description
An abstracted version of the idea in The Raven that Lenore’s “spirit” has been carried forward into its new life as a raven. The way that this sounds initially is a tune of beauty and gleeful transformation, however the raven that Poe seems to be encountering is more of a nagging at his every move type of sensation.
I am very interested in using specific materials to evoke a visceral feel to a piece that feels human in nature yet is broken in some way. I intend to have a human element and use feathery black brush strokes or found materials coming out of the central figure. I want to use encaustic-like techniques as well in order to have thicker, flesh-like texture that makes the viewer both want to touch the piece yet also retract from it.
