Abstract
Coach feedback is the main determinant of how coaches interact with athletes, and it has been previously determined that different feedback styles impact relationships between coaches and their athletes (Liu et al., 2025). Coach-athlete relationships alleviate or exacerbate player burnout depending on its directionality, implying an underlying relationship between coach-athlete relationships and player psychological wellbeing (Jiahao & Jing, 2024). This study explored the connection between coach feedback, player-coach relationships, and psychological wellbeing. We hypothesized that more positive coach feedback would predict better student athlete wellbeing via athlete-coach relationship as a mediator, such that more positive feedback will lead to a better athlete-coach relationship, which will then predict better student athlete wellbeing. In this study, college student athletes (N = 80) completed an online survey via Prolific that measured student status, level of education, involvement in a sport, demographics, coach-athlete relationship, coaching feedback, and psychological wellbeing. Data collection is ongoing; data will be presented at this poster session.
