Summary

Water infrastructure that supports water quality in the U.S. often depends on local and state government funding. This study asks whether rural areas and communities with lower median household income face more water quality violations. Taking a forecasting perspective, this project integrates data on public water system violations with county-level socioeconomic and rural–urban indicators to model and predict patterns of noncompliance.
