Summary

This presentation will detail the 2025 Creating for a Cause course as part of the Belmont Department of Public Relations. This course was used as an opportunity to plan and execute the 2025 Creating for a Cause competition, which was a collaborative, hands-on strategic communications event designed to connect Belmont students with a meaningful nonprofit partner. This year, the Down Syndrome Association of Middle Tennessee (DSAMT) served as the class's client, and students worked to develop ideas that would help the organization recruit more volunteers and strengthen its outreach efforts. The presentation highlights the comprehensive planning process, including strategic communication with community organizations, outreach to industry professionals to serve as judges, and the complex research and logistics required to host a campus-wide event. The event brought together teams from across campus to create marketing plans, build pitch decks, and present strategic solutions. With strong attendance, positive engagement, and a memorable judge experience, the competition successfully blended experiential learning with community impact.
