Summary
The Everglades Estuary Research Institute reflects the delicate equilibrium of the source of life for the everglades through tension, suspension, and integrated program. Tension becomes a metaphor for the fragile balance of the Everglades ecosystem, expressed architecturally through moments where structure and landscape push and pull against one another. Suspension elevates the program physically and conceptually, allowing spaces to hover like organisms within a living system — buoyant, adaptive, and never fully still. An integrated program mirrors the interdependence of wetlands life, weaving circulation, research, and exhibition into a continuous habitat where each function relies on and reinforces the others.
