Summary
Join us to hear about how our students find pleasure in text/s. An invitation to hear students read and describe the pleasure of texts in Germand and Spanish is an invitation to be present for the reactualization of texts in their humanity and complexity. Our students will share about how the text extends beyond and crosses the frontier of their first language into the unknown and exciting realms of other languages. As Anna Wilson admits in her essay Full-body Reading from aeon.co November of 2016, "I always begin by asking students how they feel. I’m hoping that, like Warner’s hypothetical students, they’re not ashamed of how they read for pleasure, so I urge them to refine and sharpen tools they already own." Come to enjoy hearing how students in Drs. Schwarzemeier, Pelaz, and McCoy's German, Caribbean, and Spanish literature courses are discovering pleasures in the reading of other languages.
