Summary
Did you know military garments, including trench coats, combat boots, cargo trousers, flight jackets, greatcoats, and utility vests, were originally engineered for survival, protection, and efficiency in wartime environments? War brought death and drastic global change to the masses; this shift created a need for garments that could withstand those new drastic measures. From soldiers to women at home stepping up, fashion needed a new armour, this change brought about new staples like short skirts, brass buttons, epaulets, and suits for women. These new and exciting changes meant for a whole new world of fashion where clothing meant for survival became a new look for many today to love. It also caused a shift in fashion forever. Their materials were chosen for durability under extreme strain, and their silhouettes were shaped entirely by necessity rather than aesthetics. Over time, these utilitarian designs moved into civilian fashion, where their structured and practical forms transformed into everyday style.
