Summary
In collaboration with the Civic Design Center, this research project explores strategies for increasing student engagement and creating a replicable template for connecting university students with civic design initiatives. Through conversations with the Civic Design Center team, student engagement was identified as an area with strong potential for growth within the organization.
Initial research consisted of on-campus interviews with students to better understand their awareness of the Civic Design Center, their interest in civic design, and what types of campus events or opportunities would encourage them to get involved. These conversations helped reveal important nuances in student interest while also confirming several initial ideas about how students prefer to engage.
Using these insights, our team will host a series of engagement events that test different formats and approaches to see which generates the most participation and long-term interest. From these results, we will compile a research strategies document that outlines our findings and provides recommendations for the most effective methods of student engagement.
