Abstract
Informed consent documents for procedures have received little attention compared to their research consent counterparts. Although there are minimum standards for these forms set by federal agencies and some states, hospitals have wide latitude to tailor content and wording. Which disclosure clauses US hospitals currently include in their procedure consent forms is unknown. This qualitative study assesses the content and readability of US procedure consent forms as a foundation for improving procedural consent.
