Event
Start Date

Description
Living as we do in a world where every minute of every day we can listen to commentators broadcasting live from around the globe, it’s easy to forget how relatively new the technology to capture sound faithfully in a live setting is. This black and white documentary of the 1931 amateur expedition to the Pantanal region of Western Brazil takes us back to when this all started, in the first documentary film made on location with synchronous sound capture. The film and expedition will be the subject of Dr. Hobson’s Symposium presentation the next day at noon, but tonight a discussion specific to the film will follow.
