Description
The Matrix, like many others on this list, did not debut in 1999 to universal critical acclaim; nevertheless the Wachowski Brother’s neo-noir film is now regarded as one of the top science fiction movies ever made, both for its technological achievements as film and for its exploration of important themes for a world increasingly dominated by computers able to simulate virtual realities which engage us more than actual experience. Film 4 of the Pre-Symposium International Film Series, “Of (Hu)man and Machine,” co-sponsored by the School of Humanities and the Belmont University Film Society. Discussion to follow.
