Abstract

There is a phenomenal interest in “spirituality” these days. This is true among academics, where there has been a resurgence of interest in significant figures from diverse religious traditions, including such Christian writers as Hildegard of Bingen and Julian of Norwich. It is even more the case among popular audiences, where books on spirituality have become a booming market over the last decade. Among other groups, there is a sense that spirituality offers resources for the contemporary world that have been unfairly neglected.
