Abstract
Modern Theology has established a wonderful trajectory over its first twenty-five years, succeeding beyond the imagination of many of those associated with its founding. Even so, it faces a key challenge in the next twenty-five years, namely to become more intellectually engaged (as distinct from only academically strong) and also to be more specifically tied to, and engaged with, particular religious communities and their practices and ways of life. What would that mean? I begin first with reflections on Modern Theology's accomplishments and the trajectories that make my proposal for the future both thinkable and possible.
