This is the tenth edition of the Advent Guide for the Belmont University community! Looking back over a decade of world events, we are even more aware of the need for the Coming Christ in the lives of people here and everywhere. With conflict and concern near and far, we long for the Christ child!
The season of waiting that is Advent calls for us to realign our priorities and reimagine our place before God. We are reminded of the once and future visit of our Lord Jesus Christ and challenged to prepare our hearts for his coming this Christmas season. We pray these devotionals help prepare your hearts for the coming of Jesus Christ into your life.
You will discover instructions for daily devotions during this season. Please read the scripture, the brief devotion, and pray each day as you prepare your heart for Christmas.
Each year students, staff, and faculty contribute to the guide. It is a community work and I am thankful to work with such fine people.
I am grateful for the continued support of this project by Provost Thomas Burns. Without his support we could not produce this guide.
Finally, I remain indebted beyond measure for the continued assistance of Debbie Jacobs. Her love for the students and her servant’s heart help us to achieve our larger goal of equipping and encouraging others. This Advent Guide serves as one among many projects she gives leadership to each year and serves as a tangible expression of her excellence in service. We are all grateful to have her with us.
May each day reflecting upon God’s Word and upon the words of these writers lead each of us through Advent and to the coming of Christ!
