Belmont Humanities Symposium Journal
Abstract
Dr. Sisson and I had the privilege of presenting our study at the Humanities Symposium. We took a two-pronged approach to our presentation. In the first section, Dr. Sisson expounded on exactly how it is that Berry engages his readers and creates a community through discursive and rhetorical strategies. In the second section, I explored how he uses those strategies to critique the rampant globalization that has become the norm today. Our voices, which are quite different, work together to create a harmonizing holistic understanding of Wendell Berry and his views of civility and right relationship with the world and with our neighbors.
