Abstract

I’ve always been attracted to the cliché: “Don’t let perfect get in the way of good.” As someone educated through 12 years of Catholic schooling, with Jesus Christ as the model for all things perfect and good, I’ve learned it’s impossible to reconcile my personal thoughts and behavior, and the behavior of others, with such lofty standards. Everyone else around me might well consider this view. God must have loved imperfection; he made so much of it. Acquired from my artistic education was the belief that Michelangelo was the model for all things aesthetically perfect and good. From his earliest to his final efforts, Michelangelo failed to finish most of his sculptures.
