Summary
Artists and authors living under authoritarian regimes often modified their works for the purpose of publishing creative works under government censorship. Authors and artists might use hidden meanings and metaphor to avoid punishment for their works and circumvent the restrictions placed by authoritarian and totalitarian regimes. Researchers often examine how authoritarian and totalitarian governments served both as creative catalysts and deterrents to authors and artists. I will be testing how censorship impacts the creation and production of art and literature.
