Summary
For my research, I am exploring nonviolent methods of protest and how it contributes to both peace building and social change in times of conflict. Particularly, the demonstrations performed by Nashville figures and students during the 1960’s. By studying specific leaders such as Bernard Lafayette and also particular events like the drive-in theater sit-ins, I work to gain a clearer understanding of non-violence both as a philosophy and tactic and how it was used in Nashville.
