Summary
"Within" is a contemporary modern dance piece about the inner struggles of military service members and how they process these battles when they feel alienated, cut off, and ultimately alone. Set to a 7-minute instrumental orchestral track, “Within” is a solo performance with choreography designed to show the duality of trying to perform your assigned duty and the simultaneous weight it bears on the souls of servicemembers. It follows the story of a Marine struggling to understand himself and find a sense of purpose when they feel they have lost sense of it. It tackles themes of military mental health, trauma, guilt, and ultimately self-acceptance.
