Summary
Mental health, whether positive or negative, manifests in the body. Likewise, physical movement can alter mental states. But options for therapies with a focus on cultivating a positive connection between the brain and the body are limited. Traditional therapy is not equipped to meet the needs of every individual desiring healing. Survivors of sexual abuse often feel a disconnect between the brain and the body. The Laban efforts marry theatrical psychological techniques with physical movement expression. This essay explores and advocates for usage of the Laban efforts as a therapeutic tool for survivors of sexual abuse.
