OTD Capstone Projects
Abstract
This capstone was completed in partnership with Belmont University and Ella’s House. The purpose of this project was to support mothers and infants by developing The Developmental Milestone Play Guide, a comprehensive guide designed to enhance understanding of infant developmental milestones. This guide was paired with virtual activity bins to encourage milestone-based play and caregiver education. Additionally, Ella’s House and Go Baby Go Music City documentation processes were redesigned to improve accessibility and inclusivity, with intake forms available in English, Spanish, and Arabic. The objectives of this project included advancing professional knowledge in early developmental milestones, fostering professional leadership, and enhancing interdisciplinary collaboration. The outcomes of this project included the creation and dissemination of The Developmental Milestone Play Guide, virtual activity bins, and the redesigned documentation processes, which were shared with Ella’s House and Go Baby Go Music City. These deliverables will contribute to an improved understanding of developmental milestones for parents and improved documentation practices within community-based settings.
