Description
For as long as humans have walked this Earth, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) have journeyed along. Despite knowledge, preventative measures, and treatments in the last 100 years, STIs are an ongoing struggle for humanity, notably in the American South. Why is the South a hotspot for these diseases? In this talk, we will examine the factors, from economic to religious (and everywhere in between), that contribute to this unwelcome distinction. We will discuss strategies for improvement and highlight examples from the past where the South, bless your heart, overcame disease for the benefit and prosperity of its residents
