An exploration of the career of Isaac Franklin, fi rst husband of Adelicia Acklen and the primary founder of her fortune. In the decades before the Civil War, Franklin and his business partner John Armfi eld were, according to the Washington Post, “America’s cruelest, richest slave traders.” This talk will help you trace their legacy, scattered throughout Middle Tennessee.
