Description
This presentation will provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the Child Welfare System in the United States, as well as some of the nuances of foster care in the state of Tennessee. Participants will be exposed to some of the historical trends in foster care that have led to the current state of Child Welfare Systems and the ways in which these systems have developed over time. Participants will also learn the importance of stability and permanence when considering foster youths’ perceptions of home. It is expected that participants will walk away from this session more informed of the needs, risks and experiences of youth being raised in foster care.
