Description
In honor of today being the 50th Anniversary of the debut of the groundbreaking Star Trek series, join us for a showing of the series’ first weekly episode “Where No Man Has Gone Before.” In this episode, several crew members of the Enterprise crew suddenly develop psycho-kinetic powers that advance them well beyond the capabilities of their crew mates. A brief discussion will follow the airing but a more in-depth engagement with the topic will follow this evening’s featured talk by Vanderbilt professor Michael Bess on the future’s bio-engineered humans and the implications of such developments for us “lesser mortals.”
