Helping Others Through Community Service: Humanities Symposium Volunteer Activities
Location
Beaman A&B
Presentation Type
Event
Start Date
28-9-2013 9:00 AM
Description
Community service through volunteerism provides unique opportunities for “encountering otherness.” Often, when we engage in community service projects we discover not only how our own experiences differ from those in need of assistance but also what we all share. Please join us for one of the Humanities Symposium’s four community service projects: volunteer with a charitable organization that serves a special population of the Nashville community. Opportunities might include working to stock inventory at Second Harvest Food Bank or helping the homeless at Room in the Inn. Volunteers participate from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2013. If you are a Belmont student, you will receive one Community Service (CS) convocation credit for each hour that you volunteer! You must register in advance for this event. Email Cynthia Cox (cynthia.cox@belmont.edu) or Misty Wellman (misty.wellman@belmont.edu) by Thursday, September 26, to enroll.
