Description
Remziya Suleyman’s talk/Q&A will focus on the changing face of Tennessee as new immigrants continue to make this state home and share her personal story as a Kurdish refugee. She will highlight legislative initiatives such as the Alabama copy-cat and other anti-immigrant legislation which have been introduced based on fear and a need to address the so called “problem” of rapid immigration. She’ll share specific examples of how civil discourse has helped shape dialogue and the changed perception of the “other” to neighbor in our community.
