Liberating Voices in Arabic Drama
Location

Presentation Type
Presentation
Start Date
15-9-2011 10:00 AM
Description
The voices of many thousands of protesters clamored for freedom in Tunisia, Egypt, and elsewhere in North Africa and the Middle East during the so-called Arab Spring, forever changing the political landscape of the region. Calls for liberation, however, are not new in the Arab world and may be discerned in various media and art forms, including that of theatre. In this presentation, scenes of resistance from 20th and 21st century Arabic drama will be performed by theatre students, and Dr. Al-Shamma will moderate discussion.
