Rafia Zakaria, Belmont alum and author of the forthcoming book Silence in Karachi, tells the story of growing up in Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city and home to 18 million people. In tracing her family’s arrival in the years after Partition of India and Pakistan in 1947, Zakaria tells the story of a city built on dreams and hope after the largest movement of people in human history and its current position on the frontlines of the war on terror.
