Description
In virtually all times and all places humans have imagined some sort of existence beyond life as they experienced it. This lecture attempts to probe the question of why visions of an afterlife have been so prevalent in civilizations East and West. Presenting a sampling of views from the ancient cultures of Egypt, Greece, and Rome as well as select indigenous peoples of the Americas, Australia, and Africa and the main current of thoughts in the major world religions, the rich tapestry of human imagination concerning what lies beyond life will be explored.
